Salary reduction issue - Help

My very small company laid off half our staff at the end of 2008. They asked the rest of us (including the partners) in February 2009 to take a 20% salary reduction. They specified what was needed to keep us moving forward and possibly getting our salaries back. We met those benchmarks in June but they said they still were not in a position to give us even a portion of our 20% back. It is now almost December. They do not mention it. It is like a big elephant in the room and no one wants to mention it because one person did, he lost his temper actually (but it wasn't that bad) and he was fired the next day. The company appears to be keeping afloat. I know two other people besides myself who are having serious difficulties making ends meet. I am not close enough to others to ask. The partners seem to be doing fine, taking vacations, etc. What should I say that would not put me in a difficult spot?

Job seekers 13 week interview...concerned!

I graduated from university in July and as much as I didn't really want too, I went on job seekers allowance. Anyway I recieved a letter today telling me I have a 13 week interview next week, which I understand why I'm having it and what happens etc.

But I'm kinda concerned that they won't be happy with my job seeking efforts. I've applied for about 22 jobs during my time on it (with no success really), however I'm concerned they might not think this enough (cos its not really). I'm pretty much looking everyday/every 2 days on the different job websites i've signed up for, looking through the local papers when we get them. And I've constantly made a note of what happened in the booklet they gave me whether I found something to apply for or if I was unable to find anything suitable.

The problem for me is I've not had a job before (I tried to get one over the summer hols when I was on my uni break but didnt really find anything, so I just focused my efforts on my education) and so i'm finding it hard to get a job because I only have experience in education and not in the work place. Currently I'm doing some volunteer work for a small museum in my town (as my degree was History) but when I signed on at the job centre they advised me to look for admin/call centre work. However many of the admin jobs available want a certain amount of experience...and so trying to find jobs that say no experience is ok as they will train you is quite difficult hence why not applied to many jobs.

No one in the job centre I go to is exactly that helpful, they just make me sign and tell me to go (which i've heard is the case for most people). Last week when I signed on the guy who was seeing to me, looked through my booklet, told me I had neat handwriting, asked me how the job hunting was going, told him not well as not had a job as before was at uni and focused time on my studies and he just went oh ok and said I could go....very helpful!

Do you think the job centre will understand that even though I've not found much I am still actively looking for work and so they won't cancel my claim just yet? And will they be able to actually advise me on any training course I could attend or just send me on my way not really caring?

Help from them would actually be useful, because I really want a job and don't want to be on the dole forever!

No link to our own boards here, as I'm more interested in the discussion (I'm development, not marketing :p) and trying to stay on the good side of the mods. just signed up to these forums as I have a question I need an answer to before I move back home.

I was born in the UK, am a UK citizin and hold a british passport. I have been living in australia for the past 5 years.

I am planning on moving back to england at the start of next year and staying with relatives. I am hoping to get the job seekers allowance to help pay rent.

I am over 18 and am able to work so I should meet all the requirements but I just wanted to check if me living overseas for the past 5 years would be a problem?
