"I am at the moment thinking of becoming self employed, as a leaflet distributor, but concentrating on ethical , green and charitable organisations and companies,(eg no meat industry, sex industry, alcohol, gambling etc) I have recently become unemployed, but have some experience in leaflet distribution...I have started a scheme run in conjunction with the job centre , so could offer these organisations free distribution via a placement, the idea behind this is that I will be able to gain their trust and be like an introductory offer, I will do this type of thing like freelance at first , but later hope to design and print the flyers also....the question is where are the best places to advertise on the net, or would it be better to email each organisation or both (my earlier dea of a cleaning business is a non-starter at the moment)
regarding the seeming contradiction I would put a note to recycle or that the leaflet is made from sustainable forests or recycled paper. I think if I had my way and the paper and inks were safe I would recommend they compost them/use the back scrap paper....That could be a selling point a totally useful leaflet" I will also post this in other suitable folders. |

Hi Pat,
Why not promote your business with leaflets? Design one and distribute it to likely prospects. They can not only see your design skills but you'll also get their attention with your unique approach. In the states I might also try craigslist but I don't think this is as popular on your side of the pond. If you want a good text for your kind of marketing I suggest reading Guerilla Marketing by J. Conrad Levison. He's created an industry around this concept. Much success in your venture. God bless, Andy |

I suggest you make a good and attractive profile on Linked In or similar business sites. Include your sample work snapshots/ flash videos, presentations and participate on business forums, Q&A sites and blogs (recommend servana - a business opportunity platform). This helps you get the attention of potentials clients and hopefully make you some decent money.

There is a lot of competition and a lot of cheap price for the printing - margins look tricky to me. I do marketing consultancy as well as my CV writing. I kno wof places where you can get 5000 leaflets dirt cheap and I mean dirt cheap. There is more potential to kae money out of the distribution though.
You could design samll websites for smes as well using thes eonline systmes , despite waht web deisgners wills ay tehy reallya re becoming more and more obsolete you knwo, as they are not marekters but many marketers have design ability. Sorry about my typing
