Default IB - Equity Sales - Japan - Tokyo

Hey guys,

I'm currently studying a Mathematics degree in the UK at University College London. I was wondering if you could help me with some information about IB jobs in Japan. I've searched the internet a lot on this topic and got absolutely no where. I've found loads of advice about IB careers in the UK and the US, but this isn't what I'm interested in. I've always wanted to live in Japan, and I've been studying the language for around a year now [as such I'll be business level at least by the time I finish my degree].

Ideally I would like to work for a Tokyo branch of a US/UK firm. Would I be paid in JPY? How would my salary compare to someone working in the UK/US? How would I go about applying for a job specifically in Tokyo [and not London/New York].

Any help is appreciated,

Cheers

Comeon, lets face it, Japan WAS the trade today my friend is China! Go and learn putonghua and then you will understand Japanese charaters more easily. I have learn Chinese charaters for the past 3 years and I know IF I can learn fully 2000 charaters then I can understand Japanese charaters (not the spoken language). However if you learn Japanese you will not fully understand Chinese charaters Thats the advantage learning Chinese than Japanese

Another point, as you are a western dont be to nieve and think its what it is in Asian countries, (i've been there and my partner is asian) they think western people are stupid (hey im not being negative). But apart from that be careful!

Hi, I reply to your post because I'm basically in the same situation. I just got a master degree in mathematics and I'm trying to find a job based in Tokyo.
Because I don't speak japanese (yet ) I think my only chance is to find something in a foreign company with offices in Tokyo.
At the moment I don't have any lead, but why don't we keep in contact to help each other?
At least we can figure out a model for our problem. Bye.
