I am too busy to go to night classes. I would like to take online language and book keeping courses from home. Can anybody recommend good courses which i can do from home?

Hi, thanks for that. It was book keeping and Chinese as a second language i was looking for actually. I hope my English is not that bad. Anyway i have had a look at the sites you recommended and the BBC has an excellent audio and video Chinese course, so that was a great idea, thanks again. I have also found a website called Oabell where i can take live online lessons via web cam. I have used a couple of different Chinese tutors and it has been great.

Yes the resources on the BBC are excellent. I think that you get the most out of the BBC material if you are also taking lessons, even if just once a month. Night classes or a personal tutor allow you to double check and make direct enquiries about what you are learning. For all my skills that i am developing at the moment i use a mixture of web based material like the BBC resources and regular online tutorials with an appropriate tutor. I use Oabell to find and book the tutors that i want. In some things i go back to the same tutor on a regular basis but others i have used on a one off just to help me on. I find that learning in a tutorial dramatically accelerates your own progress away from the tutorial.

I think you need to sign up to a course and pay a large upfront fee to use OU materials. After looking at the BBC site and other links recommended above i have found loads of free stuff on the web. i have found that, as you are educating yourself, getting a tutorial from time to time, say once a month or once a week, really helps you focus on your progress and what to learn. I have been able to find tutors for everything at Oabell where i book live online tutorials.
