Hi i have just joined, hopefully someone can help me with my question
![]() I have been on JSA now for a while and have been offered a job. It is 8 hours a week at the moment but better than being on jobseekers. My question is, although its only 8hrs a week i want to stop claiming JSA, am i allowed to do this? I have read somewhere it is only after 16hrs you can stop claiming. have i got this right?? If i can how do i go about cancelling my claim? Many thanks in advance! |

Pretty simple. You'll need to fill in a form at the jobcentre to declare that you're working, and then you'll be asked to fill in a form with your weekly earnings at every visit. So long as you dont work more than 15hrs per week your claim will remain open, however they will deduct your earnings (disregarding the first £5 of pay) off of the rate of your benefits.

You can stop claiming any time you like. Even if you don't work at all. However, to receive a full retirement pension you will need to have paid sufficient national insurance.
If you are not working, or earning too little (which I think you may be) you will still need to sign for full national insurance credits. |
